The End's Not Near, It's Here

A sketch from the 1st Annual Illustrationism Conference. This was my view at the conference.

As school has come to a close, I feel so should this blog. I may update one last time with some images from Sheridan Illustration 2012's grad show as a nice wrap up, but this is the last art I'll be posting here. I feel like now is a good time to go, allowing this blog to be a collection of my art during college.

You can find my continued adventures as an illustrator at my tumblr, and my comic work continues on at Traded Stars.

Hope to see you soon.

I won't let my moods ruin this you'll see

Some process work for today's page of Traded Stars; page 61.
This page I did a little differently and recorded the process, so I thought I would share that process here.

I started off with thumbnails of the layout/ compositions. Then instead of going ahead and drawing those thumbnails, I drew in the background of the page first. Followed by drawing the people on top.

The last page is where you can see exactly what I drew on top and where I had to erase to accommodate the characters.

You can see I stick fairly close to the thumbnails, but I don't mind changing panels to better suit the flow of the page. The last panel was changed so that the last three images all flowed together in one direction visually.

Following All The Rules And Not Asking Why

This illustration was done for an article about how society can sometimes call anyone who enlists in the army a hero, even though heroes should be considered people who go above and beyond the call of duty. So the question becomes; who do we consider a hero?

I have the finished illustration here, as well as some of my other ideas/ composition studies/ and a linear.
